"The Believers Meet Together: The Fellowship of Believers" |
The Believers Meet Together: The Fellowship of BelieversPurpose: Through this study we get a glimpse of the New Testament Church only a few days old. At Pentecost, after the coming of the Holy Spirit, the gathering of 120 exploded! In one day three thousand people came to faith in Christ. Now what do they do? This handful of verses provides a concise summary of what the early Church was about. It provides a model that can be applied to the modern Church, as well.Introduction to the lesson: : : Teaching Point One: The New Testament Christ-followers were devoted. Acts 2:42 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 1. 2. 3. 4. Teaching Point Two: As a part of God’s family we have a responsibility to help one another. Acts 2:43-45 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Teaching Point Three: A healthy Christian community attracts people to Christ. Acts 2:46-47 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. |
